Using the combo entirely on the keyboard works if I press the 3 on the keyboard I get Ctrl-3, but when I use the mouse button for '3', I get only 3.
In other words, even when Ctrl is held down, pressing '3' on the side of the mouse sends the game a '3', not a 'Control-3'.
I have determined, both with the Mac's Keyboard Viewer AND the xev tool in X11 (now called XQuartz), that even with the modifier buttons (control, alt, shift, command) remaining pressed down, when you press (say) the number 1 button on the side of the mouse, the system no longer thinks the modifier key is pressed. I have a Naga Chroma that is not able to play some MMOs on a Mac because it requires some keybinds (for example, Ctrl-1 by holding down the control button AND the 1 button at the same time.
